Japan’s mass media has maintained a consistently hostile stance toward Japan—the country that should be their own homeland—ever since the defeat in the Greater East Asia War. GHQ/SCAP sought out Japanese who had been sidelined before the war as dangerous far-left elements harmful to the state and placed them in virtually every pivotal position that could determine the nation’s future.
In addition, they appointed Zainichi Koreans who harbored misplaced feelings of revenge against Japan.
The Japan Teachers’ Union (Nikkyoso), which has long exerted—and still exerts—tremendous influence over Japan’s education system, was an organization created by GHQ/SCAP using Zainichi Koreans.
As mentioned regarding politics and business, education, the legal world, finance, mass media, entertainment, and other sectors, there are still many Zainichi Koreans working in the mass media today.
NHK stubbornly refuses to disclose the number of its employees who hold foreign nationality or are naturalized citizens, but it is believed that thousands of Zainichi Koreans use it as a base for anti-Japanese activities.
